Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
