Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
