World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season. The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph. A Year of Consistency Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year. This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015. Historic Achievements Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a record £11m in earnings. She received almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media. Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence". Other WTA Award Winners Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season. Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot. Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair. Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
