Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
