A partnership has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026. "This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement. Launch products are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions. Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the players enter the story. Development on the RPG has been in progress for about several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a wider market, specifically in the United States. Production will start immediately following the campaign, with deliveries expected for later in 2026. An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System An early look at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical style. Agents leverage abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s. Rather than summing the total, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the pool. This dice is then measured against a set challenge number. Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid. Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight Battles stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning instead of raw numbers. A Thematic Health Mechanic The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool. At zero health, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out. They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand common to many shooter games. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries. An Introductory Scenario A free introductory rulebook is promised in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
